“Nlpr notes

  1. LOL you can look and see if we actually read it? Do u have a running list of people who don’t? Is something bad going to happen to them?

  2. I’m not asking u to elaborate on your drenched shirt story no matter how bad you want me to

  3. Love when you include a good quote I can commit to memory and sound smart when I pull it up casually in conversation (bukowski)

  4. Agree on writing portion a lot but I have nothing clever to add rn

  5. Love the sign off. Stealing it.

update life 📈

  • Matcha with NN and MH. Thank you for making the matcha, staying later than planned, and providing a cozy home.

  • A family getaway where I got to eat lots of crab and pilot a jet ski. I’m such a weenie for a guy in my 20s, I should’ve kept that thing floored.

  • Driving a car is fun! 2 hours with my little sister was needed and appreciated.

  • Airport hell, it sucked - but an opportunity to read and write.

  • A warm welcome to Columbus by my team: enjoying time meeting people, celebrating people, and witnessing the glory that is the Ohio State Fair.

  • Coming to Chicago and getting to know my friend’s friends.

  • I’m here for Lollapalooza, first music festival in a while.

    • Day 1: Cloonie, dope. Gracie Abrams you have a new fan. Tyler the Creator, I might check out your newest album.

    • Day 2: That’s today! Way more artists that I know, we’ll see how this adventure turns out.

break ice ⚒️

Sublimate the ice, this week is a little dry.

  • icebreaker: “What’re you up on right now? Stocks, books, martial arts, cold plunges, social media breaks?”

words 🗣️

[Burnout] isn’t a personal problem. It’s a societal one—and it will not be cured by productivity apps, or a bullet journal, or face mask skin treatments, or overnight fucking oats.

read 📖: life is really hard already, why make it more hard?

I’ve always felt lucky. I get to worry about a job not challenging me. I get to worry about what someone meant when they said, “that’s okay.” I get to worry about how something at a restaurant tastes.

Cadillac problems.

Even with life being so fortunate, I've never shaken the existential dread. The modern question of, “Am I doing enough?” The creeping feeling that I should be using my time better. Until recently. This book isn’t what’s helped me let go of that feeling, but it’s reinforcing it.

watch 📺️: from Subway Takes to collaborative freestyles, I love NYC

I like freestylers. I grew up when mixtapes were still a thing. Where the home studio with your fellas was THE vibe. (No I can’t freestyle)

Ari brings that vibe to the streets. If you haven’t seen him on social media, Ari creates a fresh set of beats for freestylers. The end product is a mix of planned and spontaneous collaborations that take him all over the city. Not with his feet, but with their music.

These are all moments from my life.
Times where an emotion took hold.
Moments where I was paralyzed.

“Dude, what did Brittany just do?”

Brittany, the teacher of the dance class had just jumped parallel to the ground, flutter kicked, landed in a push up, and effortlessly rolled right.

“It’s okay if you don’t get it perfect.”

I looked around the studio and locked eyes with some people. I was met with a mixture of nervousness, excitement, and despair.

“That’s our audition piece. We’ll be reviewing it tomorrow and posting videos later today. Practice up, we’re excited to see what you can do!”

I went to the gym and practiced for a bit.

I’m out of town every week anyway.
I don’t know if I want to dance that seriously.
There’s no way I can land that move.

It was just me and her on the couch.
We kept talking.
The thoughts rang louder than words.

Was she always this pretty?
Did she get funnier?
Have we talked this long before?

I clenched my abs and tilted my neck towards the bedroom door.

The bathroom isn’t that far.

I felt myself relax, falling into the memory foam’s warm embrace.

I’ll brush tomorrow.
It’s just one night.
Another night?

When emotions make us freeze, we stop or we continue. How do you want your next moment to go?

1  Ants are in a hil. The hil in question? The humans I love category ❣️

2  I was going to link the original scene, but this is an unironically great attempt at reanimating it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYHnNj0h0Do.
